PGCE PRIMARY WITH ICT AND COMPUTING

This primary teacher education course is designed for graduates who are committed to becoming primary school teachers. It trains you to teach children in the five-to-11 age range. 

As a trainee you will learn how to teach the entire primary curriculum as well as choosing a particular route. The Primary PGCE with ICT and Computing route is designed to give you the additional expertise, confidence and skills to take on a leadership role in this subject in the future. East London offers multicultural, multilingual and vibrant schools in which to learn, but your training at UEL will qualify you to teach anywhere in England or Wales. 

Our PGCE team is made up of experienced practitioners who have worked in a range of primary and Early Years settings across London as classroom teachers, curriculum co-ordinators, advisory teachers and school leaders. At UEL you will be part of a diverse community of students. We want to bring to east London a teacher workforce that reflects the local community and, in 2019-20, 26 per cent of our Primary PGCE trainees were men  

Entrance Requirements  

Good Undergraduate Qualification 2.1/2.2 at a minimum of grade C including maths and English (or Level 2 equivalent) 

  • An Access to Higher Education course (which includes an IT related programme)
  • IELTS score of 7.0 Ideal but not relevant

BSC (HONS) COMPUTER SCIENCES

Computer Science incorporates a number of specialist areas underpinning the digital technologies we use every day. Our course is taught by leading researchers who are pushing the boundaries of what is possible in this rapidly changing field to ensure you’re up to date with the latest developments. You’ll learn the main areas of the discipline, including Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Information Security and Data Analytics, as well as Computer Systems, Computer Architecture and Data Structures.

In addition to the technical knowledge you’ll need to pursue a career in this field, you’ll learn about the impact of technology on individuals, organisations and society. With a work-based learning module embedded within the course, you’ll also have the chance to develop your skills in the workplace and enhance your CV. The University of East London have the BCS Accreditation (subject to confirmation), Microsoft IT Academy and CompTIA Academy status, so your qualification will be recognised and valued anywhere in the IT sector. 

 Entry Requirements 

  • Three GCSEs /HND/SSCE   at a minimum of grade C (4), including maths and English (or Level 2 equivalent) 
  • Level 3 Accredited Health  Qualification 
  • An Access to Higher Education course (which includes a Health  related programme) 
  • IELTS score of 6.5 

MSc COMPUTING AND INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY

An MSc Computing and Information Communication Technology will equip you with the key skills and knowledge in order for you to impact the future of technological advances in computer-based systems. This course helps you to further develop your knowledge and skills within the cutting-edge areas of computing and information communication technology. The course has been designed to provide you with a blend of advanced theoretical knowledge and practical skills related to emerging technologies deployed in industry and research. 

The course is taught and delivered by leading researchers who are actively engaged in this rapidly changing field to ensure that you’re up to date with the latest developments. The flexible nature of the course will enable you to choose from a range of advanced modules that match your career ambitions. These include emerging areas such as programming, database systems, software engineering, computer architecture and networks. This course is also available as a two year masters with an industrial placement year. The embedded industrial placement offers a unique opportunity to apply the skills learnt on real-life projects.
